In The Giants of Progress.devilWho do you think is the

Mare? Eldia? Ellen?
Or all of them?

From a different perspective, everyone looks like the devil.
In this issue, I would like to share with you a painful scene that left a lasting impression on me at the Progressive Titan.

Devil 1) Reiner and Bertolt

Reiner and Bertolt attacked Erdia as Mare soldiers.
He joined the Scout Regiment and gained the trust of Eren and others by playing the role of a comrade who had fought hard and hard together.

He later confessed the identity of the giant.

Jean, Connie and the others were shocked that they had been betrayed.

You've been screwing with us this whole time...that's just awful."
How could you sleep so well when you're the perpetrator?
"So it was all a lie, all that talk about living to be an old man and having a drink together?
What have you been thinking all this time?"

*Lines are nuanced.

I can tell you are just as shocked and angry.

Then Bertolt,

Who would want to kill anyone? It's not all lies!
I really thought we were buddies!"
But someone has to do it..."

At first I was like, "What are you talking about?

I can understand now. It's hard for Bertolt and the others...

And it's rare to see that quiet Bertolt talking with emotion!

Devil 2) Connie and Armin

This is the perspective of Daz and Samuel, who have been in sync since the beginning of the project, making their first appearance in a long time at the end of the project.

The scene where Connie and Armin prevented the airship from blowing up, and the game they played with Daz and the others was very heartbreaking.

Here are some lines from that time while fighting ↓.

"You betrayed me, didn't you? We talked about growing more land and eating meat together..."
Traitor! Why? I thought we were one of you!!!!"

Connie: "You're my friends!"

Connie's words to Bertolt and the others are coming back to them.

I didn't want to kill them, but someone had to do it, so I shot Daz and the others.

There is also a scene in which Armin unintentionally reaches out to Daz who fell into the sea.

Their expressions and voices were very painful after killing their friends.
No one really wants to kill.
I wonder if this is how Armin and his friends felt about Bertolt and his friends....

It's cruel.

I think if you don't tell yourself, "It had to be done," you break down.

Eren and his friends thought the Titans of Mare (Bertolt and his friends) were demons.
Bertolt and his friends have been taught that Eren and his friends are demons.
The Dazs, who had once fought together, felt that Connie and her friends were demons.
Everyone feared Ellen was the devil.

It is not justified, but we all have some background that makes us demons. They have something that cannot be put away in one word.
The end result was Ellen, who had to become a demon.

The Progressive Titan is a wonderful work that really makes you think.
